A new college for pupils at Woodlands Meed is now just a few short months away from full completion. Since our last update, work has been continuing apace on site as the building takes shape.
In February, the site team were delighted to welcome Woodlands Meed pupils, staff, governors, and representatives from West Sussex County Council to a special event to mark the completion of the main structure and roof of the college building. You can read more about this “Topping Out” ceremony and view a gallery of images from the day on the separate news story on our website here.
Our two Open Doors tours (pictured below) took place in March, welcoming guests onto the Woodlands Meed construction site to gain insights into the construction industry and to discover how the buildings in our communities are constructed. The tours also provided an opportunity for our guests to learn about the range of skills and professions we need on site, as well as the raft of office-based roles, careers and people that contribute to what we do.

The site team have also been continuing the World of Work Experience (WOWEx) programme with students of Woodlands Meed College. The WOWEx programme sees students gain a taste of life in the construction industry and the career paths available.
With the main structure of the building completed, work has been continuing internally, with the internal walls now nearing completion. Mechanical and electrical (M&E) services are being installed across the site, including the underfloor heating. Internal decoration is now also getting under way as we work to get the building ready to welcome students later this year!
In addition to the ongoing work inside the new college building, the team are also hard at work on the exterior. The roof weathering is nearing completion, with the roof finishes underway.
The wall structure of the building envelope is complete, with the installation of windows and doors also nearing completion and brick finishes underway on various elevations of the college.
Our team will be taking a short break for the Easter weekend, with the site closing later today (Thursday) and reopening again next Tuesday following the Easter bank holiday.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our neighbours and followers a happy Easter.
