January build update – piling works completed

Our team on site has been extremely busy since the New Year. Piling work began in the first week of January, deploying silent piling technology.

Despite challenging ground conditions, due to wet weather over the Christmas period and into early January, the sheet piling operations have now been completed and the equipment has left the site. You can view a short video of the silent piling rig at work here:

Another measure we have recently introduced on site to minimise our impact on neighbours is an automated wheel wash machine. Here's a short video of this technology in action.

The site team has commenced storm drainage works, creating the vital infrastructure to safely control surface run off at the new college during intense periods of rain.

Our ground works team have been working incredibly hard to prepare the site ahead of main construction activity. A reduced level dig is now underway to create the correct ground profile for the new college building. While some material will be redistributed across the site, we will also need to remove excavated material and will do so in a carefully planned programme to minimise any potential local impact.
